Friend,
Last month, I sent a newsletter announcing that January was Young Voices’ best month for media reach in our history thanks to syndications. I received a few email replies asking what exactly that means and how we measure our reach. Let’s dig into the details!
Writers often aim to get their articles published in big name publications like, say, The New York Times. However, we’ve discovered recently that there are a few outlets that fly under the radar but have impressive syndication deals with high-traffic websites.
An article syndication is a reprint of an article with permission from the original publication. The articles that we publish in the RealClear Media Group’s suite of websites like RealClearPolitics, for example, often appear on AOL, Yahoo News, and MSN.com.
So far this year, we’ve had 40 of our articles get multiple reprints through syndication, boosting our total article coverage to the quarter to 37.6 MILLION VIEWERS! That's up 62% from 23.2 million over the same period last year.
It’s not just the articles Young Voices pitches that are getting media attention. A recent talk organized by the Dissident Project, our speakers bureau for immigrants who escaped tyrannical regimes, made quite the splash. Gabriela Blanco was featured in Yahoo News for courageously sharing her escape from Cuba with American high schoolers — reaching an estimated 2.49 million readers!
The bottom line: Young Voices is reaching more people than ever before with public policy commentaries promoting free markets and limited government. We wouldn’t be here without the support of partners and friends like you. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Casey Given
