Agustina Vergara Cid is a writer and speaker focused on immigration and international affairs. Born and raised in Argentina, she immigrated to the United States in 2017 to pursue a Masters degree and seek a better life in the US. Agustina holds a law degree (LLB) from Universidad Nacional de Cordoba and a Masters of Law degree from the University of Southern California.
She is an Associate Fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute, where she speaks and writes about the intersection of philosophy with immigration and foreign policy issues.
Well-versed in Ayn Rand’s philosophy, Agustina has given numerous talks and classes about Objectivism, and has appeared on podcasts and given talks discussing the application of Rand’s philosophy to many issues, including her talk at the 2023 Objectivist Summer Conference titled “The Immorality of the US Immigration System.”
An immigrant herself, Agustina struggled with the immigration system and passionately advocates for freedom in immigration. Having lived in South America most of her life, she has a particularly deep appreciation for American values. She has experience with left-leaning regimes and freedom advocacy in such regimes. She routinely teaches Latin American students about individualism, capitalism and rejecting socialism in favor of freedom.
