Ethan Brown

Ethan Brown is a climate writer, commentator, and trainer passionate about combating climate misinformation, anxiety, and polarization. After receiving a B.A. in Environmental Analysis & Policy from Boston University, Ethan founded and hosted PBS's climate podcast The Sweaty Penguin, which from 2020-2024, interviewed over 150 climate scientists and scholars, earned multiple honors at the Webby and Signal Awards, and received over 50,000 downloads. Ethan also often draws on his Jewish identity and experience traveling to Israel to write on topics such as Israeli clean tech innovation and antisemitism in the climate movement. His notable bylines include Newsweek, The Hill, and Times of Israel, and he was recently named Covering Climate Now's 2024 Emerging Journalist of the Year. He now works at University of Rhode Island's Metcalf Institute, where he has developed a new fellowship to transform climate coverage within local New England newsrooms.
